This gripping tale of a community torn apart by accusations of witchcraft is a master study on the way jealousy and fear can twist even the most innocent among us. But it is also a testament to the unconquerable strength of the human spirit, even when faced with terrible injustice. The Crucible won the Tony Award for Best Play on its debut and went on to become a central work in the American theater canon.
